Site Planning
This entry is still kinda WIP so content might change later.
It's been a whole year since I started my site. Which, I started on whim. There is so much I have done, and so much that I still want to do. I wanted to write a journal entry that focus on the future of this site. Brainstorm different ideas, find and link inspo for new site pages, things of that nature. I think it be nice to have some other site references on how they have done things, to inspire things I want to add to this site. I also want to have some new site goals as well. I been finding myself to have less free time to work on my site (then I did when I first started it), so I want to be more intentional with my goals.
Gallery Revamp
One things I want to remake is my gallery page. I currently have 3 "galleries" my Art page, Furry Art, and Photography gallery. I think it might make more sense to have a gallery, which would then link to thoses page. I also want to upload more art from my Instagram, facebook account, and deviant art. Mainly since I want to get off social media. The biggest thing that has been holding me back is the fact that most of my art is tied to theses sites. I also have some photos of me when I was younger that Id like to have NOT on fb. For my deviant art, I just like don't upload to it anymore. Im actually shocked the site is still alive, but it would be nice to host it here on my site (and have on my computer) just incase the site gets nuked. Plus then I can just delete my account.
Sites I like
I want to have a few links to other sites, that have art galleries, and general site layouts that I like.
demonicpedigree
I like how she has the gallery sorted by dates. I also really like how the caption for the images appear when you click on the image. I think the only issue with this format is that I sometimes don't know the date in which I make things. so maybe this format would work better for the art I take from instagram, fb, deviant art, and other sites, since they have time stamps. Another issue is that this site is using php, so its easy to create seperate links for each page. Im not sure how to make that work with javascript, since neocities doesn't have backend scripting. Maybe there is a way with js? not sure.
I just her whole site tbh, every page is so wonderfully layed out and looks super nice. I feel like my site has a big problem with dead space. Something I need to improve on. I also like that she has a main site navigation, but doesnt stay for each page. there just a "back to home page".
ophanimkei
Ohanimkei has a super clean homepage layout. I like that it fits very neatly in the center, and uses all the space. No deadspaces. Its small but works super nice. I think she gets away from making it small by reducing the amount of content she has loaded at at time. I noticed that she has multiple links that load the same format, but the center content changes. that might be nice for my site maybe.
I also really like her navigation window as well. Its similar to Mari's, where its a sidebar of content on the mainpage. Maybe having something like that would be better for my site too. She does not have a main art gallery like mari, but has different pages, for different art content. So more similar to what ive done accidently. I also like that she has special page for oc's. That would be nice to have for Isda's Art. Right now, I just have all her art shoved at the bottom of my art gallery. Both Mari and Mal's sites also have very nice web blogs.
aid's small corner

I like how responsive aid's art gallery is. I also like the top/side menu they have. Also her site doesn't use php so this is a good work around for storing art by time. I think the little square previews are quite cute too. The image gallery is cool too because u can click though each image. I also just LOVE her site design too (probably bc its green hehe). I think I would like to use them as inso for a site redesign.. idk maybe I want to do a whole revamp LOL.I really like the page she have for her oc too. I want to flesh out isda's oc page a bit more too. I actually made isda on my tomodachi island, its so funny seeing her just... be her.. LOL.
Navigation remake
Another thing ive been meaning to do is redoing my navigation bar. I find that it does not really have enough room for all the pages I have on my site. I also feel like it looks quite clunky, and breaks on different screen sizes. I also don't really enjoy that my site kinda shares the same theming and layout for each page too. I think perhaps for a proffessional site that would make sense, and I think in a way I did approach my site in that way when orignally creating it. But I really hate when I update my sidebar, or my header, it changes like every page and then that shows up on my neocites update. I also don't really think my sidebar really need to exist anywere but my homepage. It does not really make sense to have it on every page (in fact thats why I removed it from my blog entries, and todo list.)
Doqmeat
I like how the navigation is mobile friendly, I also like that each page has its own styling! I think that my next big site rehaul might be just adding more different styling to my site. I already have done that with the various shrines I have made. I've made enough I need a page just to list them now haha. I also thing their homepage is using a grid layout, which I badly need to use. I also feel like my site just has a lot of strange deadspace, and I think thats a side effect of my poor site layout style I have. Which is partly just because I started with very little idea of what I wanted to do in the first place.
also the cat shrine she have is SO cute! linked it in Zelda's Shrine
Uncertain
I do feel a bit uncertain with changes to my site. I still feel that my knowledge on how to layout sites is very limited. I keep telling myself I want to change things. Instead of changing anything I just keep writing about it instead. Manifesting
vs actions I suppose. Me talking about what I like is not going to actually magically fix my site. Maybe Im just being a bit hard on myself but there is truth to what I am saying I think. I feel that way a bit about my life. I have ideas of what I want to do,
and things I wish to do. I'll think about them a lot, but never take any action to do anything. For example, Laundry, or the dishs, or even tidying up my place. I suppose it's lazyiness, and procastionation. I also get distracted by other things too.
Its no one's fault by my own. No ones job to fix but myself.
I feel that way about my own art too. I'd like to do more, sell more art, be in gallerys or shows. Get more work, more commissions, more dedication. I just dont. I think about it a lot. I think about making art, making paintings, selling stickers,
being in shows. I have done some of it, but I guess not to the amount I thought I would. I feel like a poser at the end of the day. I guess im not, but just mean to myself sometimes. I think I am going to do some chores to feel better now. Instead of dewelling
in self pity.
To Summarize my goals
- Use grid styling for my homepage. Ditch my old navigation bar, and instead have one more in a list like style.
- more custom css styling. I don't have to have my site look the same on every page.
- revamp my gallery.
- didnt talk about it but drawbox needs a tutorial again. the old site died.
- like demonicpedigree, Doqmeat, & ophanimkei
My photography page, and my art gallery page do not need to look the same
I feel like for big screens I could take advantage of using more space.
ya
In unrelated news I made a skyrim themed shrine for a RP server im playing. I made a Skyrim Themed Drawbox.
